Before configuring InterPPP, you must configure the protocols you are using to connect to the remote network. If you are connecting to a remote network using TCP/IP, see Section 3.1, TCP/IP Connections. If you are connecting to a remote network using AppleTalk, see Section 3.2, AppleTalk Connections.
3.1 TCP/IP Connections
If you need to configure your connection for TCP/IP:
1. Select Control Panels from the Apple menu.
‚àö The Control Panels window is displayed.
2. Double-click the MacTCP icon (Figure 3.1).

3. Select the TCP/IP PPP icon and enter your PPP account address in
the IP Address text field below the icon.
4. Click More….

5. In the Obtain Address box, click either Manually or Server.
  The Dynamically option in the Obtain Address box is not
available for use with InterPPP.
• Click Manually to set your IP address in the IP Address field in the
MacTCP dialog (where you manually entered it in Step 3 ).
OR
• Click Server to have the remote network negotiate your IP address
and automatically set MacTCP during each connection.
6. Check that the information is correct in the Routing Information, IP
Address, and Domain Name Server Information boxes.
 If you are configuring MacTCP for the first time or need more
information on the fields in the MacTCP dialogs, see the About
Networking: A Guide to TCP/IP and MacTCP book included
in your InterPPP package. Refer to Part II, Chapter 3,
Configuring MacTCP.
7. Click OK to save the MacTCP administrative information. (Or click
Cancel to close the dialog without saving any changes.)
‚àö The MacTCP dialog is displayed.
8. Click the close box to close the dialog.
‚àö The warning shown in Figure 3.4 is displayed.

9. Click OK.
‚àö The Control Panels window is displayed.
10. Configure your AppleTalk connection, if necessary. See Section
3.2, AppleTalk Connections, for more information.
OR
Click the close box to close the window.
11. Restart your Macintosh.
  Selecting TCP/IP PPP in the MacTCP dialog disables other
network protocols. If you use different protocols
to connect to a network, such as TCP/IP PPP and Ethernet,
reselect the desired protocol before connecting. Be sure to enter
the appropriate information, such as your Ethernet IP address.
3.2 AppleTalk Connections
If you need to configure your connection for AppleTalk:
1. Select Control Panels from the Apple menu.

2. Double-click the Network icon (Figure 3.5).

3. Select the AppleTalk PPP icon.

4. Click OK to change your connection to AppleTalk PPP. (Or click
Cancel to close the dialog without changing your connection.)
‚àö The Network dialog is displayed.
5. Click the close box to close the dialog.
‚àö The Control Panels window is displayed.
6. Configure your TCP/IP connection, if necessary. See Section 3.1,
TCP/IP Connections, for more information.
OR
Click the close box to close the window.
 Selecting AppleTalk PPP in the Network dialog disables other
network protocols. If you use different protocols
to connect to a network, such as AppleTalk PPP and Ethernet,
reselect the desired protocol before connecting.
 If you have configured MacTCP as well as AppleTalk, you must
restart your Macintosh for the MacTCP changes to take effect.
